Martock Parish Council are looking for two enthusiastic self employed Holiday Activity Leaders to help deliver SASP Happy Healthy Holidays programme for Martock for two weeks during the summer holidays.

Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership and Somerset County Council have once again joined forces to deliver fun activities along with healthy food, under the name ‘Happy Healthy Holidays Somerset’. HHHS provides funding to enable local groups to deliver a variety of holiday activities including food to children eligible for benefits related free school meals across Somerset.

About the Job

We are looking for two enthusiastic Holiday Activity Leaders who will be available from Monday 29th July – Friday 2nd August 2024 and Monday 5th August – Friday 9th August 2024 8.30am – 1pm to deliver the SASP Happy Healthy Holidays programme for Martock Parish Council at £100 per day.

The main duties include:

  • Activities to help children to understand more about the benefits of healthy eating and nutrition into the programme on a daily basis
  • Delivery of at least one hour of physical exercise a day in line with the Chief Medical Officer’s recommendations
  • Delivery of at least one hour of enrichment activities which develop new skills or knowledge and provide new experiences such as creative activities, drama, music, crafts, nature walks
  • Offer information, signposting or referrals to other services and support, which would benefit the children who attend their provision and their families
  • All activities must be of high quality and delivered safely
  • Taking registers

About You

Ability to coach/lead one or more of the following groups in one or more sports/physical activities: children, young people, people with disabilities at a variety of levels.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with children aged 9-12

Ability to structure and plan an activity session.

Ability to take responsibility for a group.

Ability to adhere to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

Ability to adhere to the Council’s Health and Safety policy.

Detailed knowledge of one or more sports/physical activities.

Knowledge of child protection issues.

Knowledge of disability issues is desirable.

Experience of coaching, leading or assisting with coaching sessions with one or more of the above mentioned groups

An appropriate National Governing Body coaching qualification or relevant Physical Activity qualification.
