The Parish of Martock is working towards becoming a Dementia Friendly Community
- Our steering group is a wonderful collective of local people passionate about making Martock Parish inclusive for everyone
- Martock Primary School held a drawing competition to create our logo
- All Saints Church held a café style Forget Me Not Service
- We have compiled, distributed and evaluated a community wide questionnaire
- We have completed a strategic action plan
- Look Out for Free Dementia Friends Awareness sessions and events
Our group aims to make a significant difference by
- Increasing awareness and understanding of dementia in the Parish of Martock
- Supporting the development of a role for people living with dementia
- Establishing ‘community support’ including local services, business/shops and social groups
- Improving health and wellbeing by reducing social isolation and loneliness
- Breaking down barriers and helping remove stigmatization
We will do this by
- Identifying local needs of people living with dementia and their carers
- Developing greater awareness and understanding of dementia issues in Martock Parish
- Establishing networks/links with businesses, service providers and people living with dementia
- Providing training and awareness to include all age groups – local services, businesses, shops, social groups and their staff/volunteers
- Providing accessible information in guides and packages – with a website presence
