Cllr. Joy Bailey

Vice Chairman

Although I’ll never be a Martock Bean I have lived here now for 34 years, moving from London with a toddler and new baby when my husband got a job at Yeovil Hospital.

I’ve always been involved with village activities having been on Martock Primary PTA (2 years as Chair when we raised the funds for converting the kitchens into the reception classrooms), the Scout Hall committee and currently on Martock & South Petherton PPG.
I’m a member of Langport & Somerton Rotary Club and when President last year secured funding for the foodbank and Martock Youth Parish Council.

For the first 13 years of my working life, I was a secretary in London and Sydney. I then retrained to teach adults, teaching at Yeovil College, The Park School and Dorchester Prison.

I would like to see projects which help tackle loneliness – in all ages – and I do have a couple of ideas which cost next to nothing. I try my best to represent everyone in the village and am always available to listen to peoples’ concerns. I can be contacted on my councillor email address.
