Martock and District u3a

Category: Clubs / Societies

Martock and District u3a is an adult learning and social group which was originally set up for older retired people, who comprise most of our membership, but is now open to adults of any age who have free time during weekdays for our activities. We hold monthly meetings in the Parish Hall on the second Wednesday of the month at 2.15pm for a 2.30pm start. There is a talk of general interest followed by tea and homemade cakes. Examples of recent talks are: Understanding Modern Art, how to set up a Lasting Power of Attorney, The Tolpuddle Martyrs, Climate Change, The Tenerife Volcano, Antarctica, Protecting Your assets and Inheritance, and Gardening for Wildlife.

Martock u3a also has over thirty interest groups which range from academic subjects like Science, Philosophy, and languages, through hobbies such as the Book Club and Cycling Group, to games such as Scrabble, Mah Jong and Bridge.

We also arrange occasional outings to places of interest; recent outings were to the West Somerset Railway, The Fossil Museum in Kimmeridge, Dorset, and “We the Curious” in Bristol.

The annual subscription of £17 (£30 for a couple) entitles you to join any interest group and attend the monthly meeting. You can join at any monthly meeting, on our website, or by emailing our Membership Secretary Alison Sutton at:
